Mapping out the journey east I've tried to split it into legs that I think will be manageable. I've never driven this far before, but I have spent up to 12 hours in the car in a single day, so I know my mental limit. Aiming for not much more than 700 miles/day because that's what I think I can handle. My overnight stops along the way include a campground at Cabela's world HQ and 'boondocking' at a few truckstops that allow RVs. Aiming for places that are safe and have showers/bathrooms that are currently open. I've read some horror stories, so there's a backup plan for each stop. Speaking of stops, there are endless places across this country to explore by bike, so that should help to make the journey a little more interesting. If I can stop each day and go pedal for an hour or two, it'll keep the blood flowing and give me a mental break from the monotony of driving - that's the theory anyway.
