15. Day 6

Today turned out to be a 'me' day as school and volleyball have the kid busy all day.  I headed into the town of Stowe, VT which I believe is a ski town in the winter and a mountain biking mecca in the summer, plus a hot spot for microbreweries - my kind of place!  I pulled up the Trailforks app in the morning and scouted out a set of trails neat this bike shop I'd heard about called Ranch Camp whose motto is Bikes, Beers, Burritos.  I'm in hook, line and sinker.

Managed to have my first full night of sleep of the trip, so that was awesome.  Got to Stowe before 10 and virtually had the place to myself.  I saw a few riders throughout the morning, but nothing like at home.  Curious what this place is like on a weekend.  Anyway, some of the coolest trails I've ever ridden with long flowy sections of big berms and jumps, mixed with a ton of narrow bridges.

After a burrito and a beer (ok 2 beers) at Ranch Camp I did some shopping there and asked for pointers to another set of trails.  The guy behind the counter, plexiglass screen and mask directed me to another trailhead about 2 miles away starting through a covered bridge. Can this place be any more picturesque? Another great ride up and back down some long flowy stuff with hardly anyone around.  Had some mechanical issue with the bike but got it going again quickly. It must have heard me asking about new bikes in the store.

A 4:00 stop at IdleTyme Brewery for a sampler and a bowl of brussel sprouts, which I can't believe I order now just for myself, thanks Sarah!.....then a stop at the Alchemist to pick up some to-go beers, followed by a visit to the Von Trapp brewery (Sound of Music house if I'm not mistaken).  Didn't care for the beers there as they were all German style, but the food looked good and it's a nice atmosphere.

Back at the campsite now, after a nice hot shower I'm enjoying a cold beer next to a campfire with the sound of the river in the distance, a solid day indeed.
